Problem of the Week

Updated at Nov 30, 2020 10:53 AM

This week we have another equation problem:

How would you solve \(\frac{4(4u-3)}{4}=13\)?

Let's start!

\[\frac{4(4u-3)}{4}=13\]

1
Cancel \(4\).
\[4u-3=13\]

2
Add \(3\) to both sides.
\[4u=13+3\]

3
Simplify  \(13+3\)  to  \(16\).
\[4u=16\]

4
Divide both sides by \(4\).
\[u=\frac{16}{4}\]

5
Simplify  \(\frac{16}{4}\)  to  \(4\).
\[u=4\]
