Problem of the Week

Updated at Mar 21, 2022 2:54 PM

To get more practice in equation, we brought you this problem of the week:

How can we solve the equation \(2(\frac{4z}{4}+5)=14\)?

Check out the solution below!

\[2(\frac{4z}{4}+5)=14\]

1
Cancel \(4\).
\[2(z+5)=14\]

2
Divide both sides by \(2\).
\[z+5=\frac{14}{2}\]

3
Simplify  \(\frac{14}{2}\)  to  \(7\).
\[z+5=7\]

4
Subtract \(5\) from both sides.
\[z=7-5\]

5
Simplify  \(7-5\)  to  \(2\).
\[z=2\]
