Problem of the Week

Updated at Jan 30, 2023 12:03 PM

This week we have another algebra problem:

How can we factor \({q}^{2}-8q+12\)?

Let's start!

\[{q}^{2}-8q+12\]

1
Ask: Which two numbers add up to \(-8\) and multiply to \(12\)?
\(-6\) and \(-2\)

2
Rewrite the expression using the above.
\[(q-6)(q-2)\]
