Division Distributive Property

Reference > Algebra: Exponents

Description

The Division Distributive Property states that:

\({(\frac{x}{y})}^{a}=\frac{{x}^{a}}{{y}^{a}}\)
Examples
\[{(\frac{x}{5})}^{2}\]
1
Use Division Distributive Property: \({(\frac{x}{y})}^{a}=\frac{{x}^{a}}{{y}^{a}}\).
\[\frac{{x}^{2}}{{5}^{2}}\]

2
Simplify  \({5}^{2}\)  to  \(25\).
\[\frac{{x}^{2}}{25}\]
