Quotient Rule

Reference > Algebra: Exponents

Description

The Quotient Rule states that:

\(\frac{{x}^{a}}{{x}^{b}}={x}^{a-b}\)
Examples
\[\frac{{x}^{8}}{{x}^{5}}\]
1
Use Quotient Rule: \(\frac{{x}^{a}}{{x}^{b}}={x}^{a-b}\).
\[{x}^{8-5}\]

2
Simplify  \(8-5\)  to  \(3\).
\[{x}^{3}\]
