Problem of the Week

Updated at Apr 13, 2026 2:43 PM

This week we have another algebra problem:

How would you find the factors of \(15{t}^{2}+22t-5\)?

Let's start!

\[15{t}^{2}+22t-5\]

1
Split the second term in \(15{t}^{2}+22t-5\) into two terms.
\[15{t}^{2}+25t-3t-5\]

2
Factor out common terms in the first two terms, then in the last two terms.
\[5t(3t+5)-(3t+5)\]

3
Factor out the common term \(3t+5\).
\[(3t+5)(5t-1)\]
