How can we factor \(10{q}^{2}-7q+1\)?

Below is the solution.

\[10{q}^{2}-7q+1\]

1
Split the second term in \(10{q}^{2}-7q+1\) into two terms.
\[10{q}^{2}-2q-5q+1\]

2
Factor out common terms in the first two terms, then in the last two terms.
\[2q(5q-1)-(5q-1)\]

3
Factor out the common term \(5q-1\).
\[(5q-1)(2q-1)\]
